[Note: I wrote this prior to the election. Unfortunately, not much has changed since then.]
I am not the least bit concerned about COVID-19. Zip, zilch, nada. My wife is the same way.
Do you want to know why? Because we don’t blindly believe everything we’re told when there is no data to back it up.
We know that the people who typically get sick and/or die from the virus are elderly or are already battling other illnesses. We are neither. So, we don’t wash our hands any more than we normally would, we touch our faces as often as we want, we grab “non-sanitized” shopping carts and only wear a mask when we’re forced to. And we’re fine. Nearly everyone is.
Why do people wear masks when riding a bike, or in their car alone of when putting groceries in their car more than 50 feet away from anyone? Because they’ve been driven to a hysterical level of fear. And that’s by design.
There has been a phenomenal amount of data collected concerning COVID-19. Arguably, more data has been collected than for any other disease in history. And, that data shows that nearly everyone who becomes infected with the COVID virus either has mild symptoms, and recover on their own, or are asymptomatic with no symptoms at all.
But, it’s rare when you hear anything about the recovery or asymptomatic rate. Instead, we’re constantly reminded how many people have detected positive each day. However just because someone tests positive doesn’t mean they’re sick or contagious and it certainly doesn’t guarantee death. Yet the media keeps showing us images of people sick with COVID-19 in hospital beds when in reality that only happens in rare cases.
The government is using scare tactics to get people to accept their mandates supposedly to “protect” everyone. They’re using misinformation and withholding information to make things seem much worse than it actually is. They’re making it seem like dying from COVID is inevitable when it’s not. Why? Because scared people are compliant people.
The data used to justify the mask mandates, closing of schools, businesses and the rest of the economy is flawed. It has been from the start. Here are some examples:
- Initial predictions were based off flawed models. The actual number of cases and deaths, not only in the U.S. but worldwide as well, are much lower than predicted.
- Cases where people obviously died of other symptoms, for instance massive blood loss from a vehicle accident, have been classified as a COVID death because the victim tested positive for COVID postmortem. This artificially drives up morbidity numbers.
- Hospitals are financially incentivized to report deaths as COVID-related thus inflating the number of COVID deaths. The more cases they classify as COVID-related, the more money they make.
- Several testing labs in Florida were reporting a 100% positivity rate. Once this was exposed, they adjusted the numbers which then showed only an 18% positivity rate. It would be unreasonable to believe that this was a single occurrence. They’re just the ones who got caught.
- The most widely used test for detecting COVID-19 is the PCR test. There have been objections to how this test is used and that as many as 90% of the people tested may be false-positive. It is quite likely that people who aren’t contagious are being shown as positive.
- Last week, emails surfaced that showed that government officials in Nashville are keeping COVID numbers from the public because the number of cases that can be traced back to restaurants and bars were much lower than anticipated. Only 22 of nearly 20,000 positive cases in Davidson county can be traced back to a bar or restaurant. The Nashville Mayor’s office has verified that the emails are authentic. Again, it is unreasonable to believe this is the only place that the government has lied about the test results so it is likely also happening elsewhere.
- In August, the Empire Center filed a Freedom of Information Act request in New York for data pertaining to COVID-19 deaths in nursing homes. The response from the New York State Department of Health was that they’re looking for the data but don’t expect it to be available before November 5th (just after the election).
Local governments are using misleading “facts” and deception to keep people scared enough to comply with their mandates.
But what about protecting other people? Shouldn’t we wear masks to keep other people safe? The people wearing a mask while driving alone in their car or riding a bike or packing groceries aren’t doing it to protect anyone else. They’re doing it to protect themselves, because they are scared.
They’re scared because they’ve been manipulated to believe that things are much worse than they actually are. When people are scared, getting them to accept something they normally wouldn’t is easy to do. And that’s what’s happening.
I’m not saying that COVID-19 isn’t serious. It’s very serious, but only to some people. For most of us, it’s not a big deal. What I am saying is that it’s time to demand that we’re given valid reasons for why these blunt-force measures are still in use when there is no data to support its necessity. It’s time to hold local leaders accountable for purposely misleading the public, regardless of their intentions.
My dad is 88 years old. Since my mom died four years ago, he’s been living by himself at his house. Since this all started, my sisters stop by to help him out every so often and he gets tons of Skype calls from his family. But no one else comes to visit. He’s bored and lonely.
He was complaining to me the other day about how he wishes he could simply go to the grocery store or Walmart. I mentioned that he didn’t have long to wait because the virus scare will be ending on November 4th. He asked how I could be so sure exactly when it would end. My reply? Because that’s the day after Election Day.
The COVID-19 mandates are no longer about public health. They may have started out that way but they’re not anymore. The mandates are about politics. COVID-19 has been politicized and your local leaders are keeping you scared to make sure you’ll believe anything. And so far it’s working.
Update:
It’s a few days before inauguration day and my predictions have held true. Local governments across the United States have suddenly decided that we can no longer afford to keep the economy shut down and are starting to allow businesses to reopen. They’re allowing the businesses to reopen even though a new “mutant” strain of the virus has emerged. Why? Because it is not politically expedient to do so.
