If Joe Biden manages to win this election, I will never be convinced that he did so fairly. And I’m not alone.
In my totally unscientific approach of just asking people I know who voted for Trump, 100% of the people I asked said that they believe the election was rigged and that Joe Biden cheated. Probably about half of the people in the U.S. believe that, if elected, his presidency wouldn’t be legitimate. We’ve all been living with that for the past four years so we know how well that will work.
You’d think that Joe Biden would be front-and-center demanding that the allegations of election fraud are thoroughly investigated. He should be insisting that all legal votes be counted and that election officials work to prove and ensure that the election process was above reproach.
Instead, the Biden Campaign has been mostly silent. When they do make a statement, they say the allegations are “baseless”. But, just because someone claims something is baseless doesn’t make it so. In fact, trying to convince people not to investigate potential wrongdoings makes it even easier to believe that the claims of fraud are true. Criminals nearly always claim innocence and guilty people try to hinder investigations.
It’s not that we can’t be convinced the election was fair. It’s that no one is trying to convince us of it.
There is plenty of evidence that election fraud did occur. Election laws were unlawfully changed, observers were blocked from monitoring the vote count, dead people have voted, and people have voted multiple times. Affidavits have been collected from hundreds of people describing malfeasance including voting machines being hacked, ballots being backdated, signatures forged, ballots being changed, and voters being coerced.
So, why isn’t everyone trying to make sure that the election was fair? If Joe Biden believes he won fairly, he should have no problem supporting a fair and thorough audit.
Rather than working to find the truth, elected officials, and the media are ignoring the possibility that the results of the election could be tainted. The media faithfully echoes that the allegations are “baseless” and search for ways to discredit the investigations being performed by the Trump Campaign. The media should be looking for the truth, instead, they’re ignoring facts.
I’m not certain what it would take to convince us the election was fair, but I do know what would help: Full cooperation by both candidates and a full audit of the results.
When I say “audit”, I don’t mean “recount”. What I mean by “audit” is that every legal vote is counted. Not every vote, every legal vote. Votes that don’t follow local election laws should be discarded.
Observers must be allowed full, unrestricted access to monitor the vote counting and validation. They should be allowed to see everything and go everywhere as long as they keep their hands in their pockets and don’t touch anything. If I hear of even a single instance where an observer was denied access, I’m going to believe that something was purposely being hidden.
The fear of spreading COVID can’t be used as an excuse to keep observers away from the action. I’m certain that a way can be found to let people work side-by-side and minimize the risk of infection. Just put them in hazmat suits. With nearly 70 million Trump voters, I’m confident we can find a few hundred who would have no problem suiting-up while observing the audits and recounts.
Most Conservatives tend to use logic and reason instead of emotion. If a thorough investigation concludes that no fraud occurred, I believe it will be possible to convince a large portion of Trump supporters that Biden won fairly and that we should support him as president. But you’ve got to at least try to convince us.
If there are continued efforts to block an investigation, if observers aren’t allowed to adequately observe, if the allegations of election fraud aren’t taken seriously, if votes are counted that legally shouldn’t, Trump supporters are going to continue to believe that the election was rigged and the results tainted.
Most major sports have an asterisk in their record books, used to denote accomplishments that became tainted in some way. If an athlete was accused/suspected of using performance-enhancing drugs, their accomplishment may deserve an asterisk. Likewise, if someone broke a record but required more games than the previous recordholder, an asterisk may be displayed next to their name when listing their achievement. If there’s a question of fairness, an asterisk is used.
If the country continues down this insane path of denying what we can see with our own eyes, and Biden becomes president, his presidency would be tainted. And, since the precedence is that tainted results deserve an asterisk, we would have to insist that an asterisk be placed next to his name whenever he is mentioned as the president.
The disclaimer would look something like this:
*The 2020 election had numerous irregularities in the vote counting process that were never adequately investigated or explained. It is highly likely that election fraud occurred, influenced the results, and contributed to the election of the current president.
