Science Says…

Remember when you were a kid and you played “Simon Says”?  Sure you do.  Someone would be “Simon” and make up simple tasks for the participants to do.  If Simon stated an instruction starting with “Simon says”, then you were supposed to do what Simon said.  If Simon didn’t first say “Simon says”, and you did it anyway, then you were “out”.  If you had a particularly creative “Simon” then the game got really silly, really fast.

For almost the entire last year and a half, we’ve been told to follow “The Science”.  I feel like we’ve been playing a game similar to Simon Says.  Except the name of this game is “Science Says”.  And it got really silly, really fast.

Science says…panic.

Science says…stay at home.

Science says…wear masks.

Science says…get tested.

Science says…get vacksinated.

You get the picture.  A lot of people played Science Says.  Hell, a lot of people are still playing.  Not me though.  As soon as Science said, “panic”, I stopped playing their game.

I think it’s safe to say that by now more data has been collected about COVID-19 than any other disease in the history of mankind.  If we’re not there yet, then we’re pretty close.

Hundreds of millions of PCR tests have been administered in this country alone, and were the basis of most, if not all, of the mandates and lockdowns.  Presumably, at least some data was collected on the experimental drugs/vackseens, though with all the “oops, my bad” we’ve been seeing every time a new “adverse reaction” pops up, I’m starting to wonder if they did any testing at all.

So, we’ve got lots of data.  That’s not the problem.  The problem is when people start to turn that data into intelligence that can be acted on.  They end up making assumptions that might not be accurate.  The first bad assumption being that the people creating the actionable intelligence are actually…you know…intelligent.

We’ve got all this data and nothing to compare it to.  Had we been obsessively testing everyone for the flu or the common cold for the past 20 years, then we’d probably have a good idea of what hundreds of millions of snot tests tell us about COVID.  But we didn’t.  So we don’t.

Since there is no empirical knowledge to work with, the best anyone can do is predict what the data is telling us.  A prediction is nothing more than a wild-ass guess.  And a wild-ass guess made by scientists like Fauci is nothing more than a Scientific Wild-Ass Guess, otherwise known as a SWAG.

People have been led to believe that The Science consists of facts when in reality The Science is just wild-ass guesses made by people who don’t know for certain what’s really going on.

In other words, Scientific Wild-Ass Guesses are being presented as “The Science”, and the game of “Science Says” is still being played.

Science says…don’t wear a mask if you’re vacksinated.

Science says…wear a mask even if you are vacksinated.

Science says…keep panicking because the COVID variants might kill you.

Science says…you need to take booster shots forever.

When will this craziness end?  Your wild-ass guess is as good as mine.
