Hate the Player

A couple weeks ago, I saw a post on Nextdoor made by a young teenage girl.   She wanted to warn people that there were men cruising the bus stop near the mall trying to entice girls into their car.

The post was mostly met with support for the girl for warning others, and disgust for the men trying to make victims out of innocent girls.

I said mostly.

One person responded that we should be mindful that there could potentially be young people reading the thread and that we should watch our language.

I don’t have a problem with that.

Then she ended her post saying that we should “berate the behavior and not the person.”

Huh?

That’s where she lost me.

What she said is that we should be disgusted with the behavior of the assholes in the car, but not disgusted with the assholes themselves.

Her statement is just another way of saying, “don’t hate the player, hate the game”.  In other words, the fault doesn’t lie with the individual, it lies with the system that created degenerate men who prey on young girls.

What a load of bullshit.

I replied that the lack of personal accountability is part of what’s wrong with America today and that we absolutely should blame the assholes in the car for being assholes.  I said it a bit nicer than that, but you get the drift.

Uncommon Sense

I often come across someone with a line of what I’ll graciously call “thought” that I just can’t understand.  Try as I might, I honestly can’t get my head around what’s happening in that Liberal hamster wheel they call a brain.

How can they possibly come to the conclusions that they do?  They see the same things I do and yet where they land on the issue is somewhere completely different.  How can anyone think that men actively molesting young girls somehow aren’t to blame for molesting young girls?

This should be one of those universal truths like men are men and women are women.

Oh…I think I might see the problem.

But it got me to thinking.  What are the fundamental differences between the way Conservatives think, and the way Liberals, once again I’ll be gracious here, “think”.

I think one of the largest differences is that a Conservative can nearly always answer the question “why”.  Someone on the Right will more likely than not be able to articulate what they believe, and why they believe it.  You may not agree with them, but you can have a conversation with them.

However, the Left never has any reasoning or facts to back up the nonsense they’re spewing.  Their go-to defense is to claim, often by screaming at the top of their lungs, that they’re offended or you’re either a racist, transphobe, white supremacist, right-wing extremist, or all of the above.

Rather than having some substance behind their assertions, the Left expects you to believe the ridiculous assumption that how they feel about a particular topic is somehow important.  As if anyone actually gives a shit how they feel about anything.

Play Stupid Games…

Another one of the crazy things that Conservatives believe in is personal accountability.  That is, everyone should be held accountable for the results of the decisions they make.  Want to spend a hundred grand on a college degree that has no practical use?  Then you should be responsible for paying off your student debt.

The concept is pretty simple.  Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.  Nobody ever forced anyone to get a worthless degree in art history.  You’re the only one who should be on the hook for paying for you “following your passion”.

I don’t know why this is such a difficult concept for Liberals to understand.  Unless, of course, they’re not thinking things all the way through.

When looking for someone to blame, a Conservative starts by looking in the mirror.  A Liberal will point fingers at everyone except themselves.

John Wooden once said, “You are not a failure until you start blaming others for your mistakes.”

Exactly.

One Thing is Like Another

Here’s another difference between Conservatives and Liberals.  A Conservative can draw logical conclusions on one scenario, based on what they saw in a similar scenario.  Liberals, not so much.

Here’s an example:

Remember last year when a bunch of men claiming to be “non-binary” crashed the Women in Tech Conference?  The rules of acceptance and inclusivity prohibited the companies in attendance from discriminating against someone based on their gender identity.  So, these clever men who pretended to be confused about their gender were able to play the system.

The Left was in an uproar because these people who were obviously men were taking away opportunities that were meant for women.  And they were right.  Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while.

Let’s ignore for a moment the fact that they ignored their own rule that one’s gender identity can’t be questioned.  By stating that these young men were indeed young men they destroyed their own fundamental argument.

But we’re going to ignore that.

Meanwhile, Somewhere in Alaska

Because we’re going to focus instead on a Planet Fitness somewhere in Alaska, where a woman had her membership cancelled because she complained about a man shaving in the women’s locker room.

A Conservative will look at man pretending to be a woman to get into a tech conference meant for women, and a man pretending to be a woman to get into a locker room meant for women and see that they’re exactly the same thing.  Men gaming a ridiculously flawed system.

In the case of the tech conference, we have men gaming the system to take opportunities meant for women.  In the case of Planet Fitness, we have a man gaming the system so he can watch women and young girls walk around naked.

And yet Liberals look at those two situations and come to the conclusion that they’re two entirely different things.  They can somehow simultaneously believe that someone’s stated gender must be a ruse while someone else’s stated gender can’t be questioned.

I saw a follow-up video made by the woman who got her Planet Fitness membership cancelled.  She said that she was compelled to say something to the gym’s management when she saw a 14-year-old girl huddled in a corner wrapped in a towel because she didn’t want a middle-aged man to ogle her.

Now, Conservatives will say that the feelings of a teenage girl trump the feelings of a dude who doesn’t want to use the men’s locker room.

On the other hand, Liberals will say that the trauma of a man being forced to use the men’s locker room is the inclusivity equivalent of a royal flush, and that the girl cowering in the corner should just learn to deal with it.

While there are many other differences, I’ll touch on one more.

Crime and Punishment

Honestly, this is just a spinoff of the Conservative belief in personal accountability.  If you decide to commit a crime, then you should be punished.  Period.

Now, clearly, there are extreme circumstances and desperate times call for desperate measures.  But that should only come into play during the punishment phase.  If you commit a crime, you’re still guilty of it, regardless of your intentions.  However, the punishment for your crime may be dependent on why you committed the crime.

If, for example, your baby is sick and you steal a bottle of cold medicine, that’s understandable.  It’s still illegal, but at least it’s understandable.

But, if you go into that same CVS and steal ALL the cold medicine, and razor blades, and anything else that’s not locked up, that is not understandable in any way, shape, or form.

From a Conservative point of view, both are guilty of committing a crime.  However, the thief with the sick baby may be shown leniency and forced to pay restitution and do some community service.  The smash-and-grab crew that walked out of the store with bags of stolen goods should go to jail for a long, long time.

On the other hand, Liberals will treat both instances exactly the same.  The parent of the sick baby will not be punished at all because it’s society’s fault that they’re poor and, by extension, that their kid got sick.

The smash-and-grab crew?  Obviously, they’re the victims of a white patriarchy filled with systemic racism.  Instead of being punished, they should be applauded for striking out against social injustice.  Oh yeah, and they’ll get to keep all the stuff they stole.

I used to have a hard time understanding how a Liberal can look at the same set of facts and circumstances as I do and draw wildly different conclusions.  I mean, what could possibly be going through their heads.

Then I came across a quote by Steven Wright.

He said: “A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking.

And now it all makes sense.
