Philosophical Racism

Apparently, the unofficial slogan in Ventura County California is “We’re not the San Fernando Valley”.  It can’t be widely known because I’ve lived here for over 10 years and have never heard of it before today.  I also learned today that somehow the unofficial slogan is racist.

It seems that some residents have pushed back against the slogan saying, “the comparison is racist and undermines the need for affordable housing in Ventura.”

Let’s stop to think about this for a bit.  A geological/cartological fact is considered racist.

What.  The.  Frack.

It’s a ridiculously lame slogan.  Ventura County is just over 300 miles from the San Fernando Valley.  I think if you want to brag that you’re not someplace else, you only have to be at least 20 miles away.  So, nearly the entire planet can make the same claim.  If they were trying to come up with a slogan that shows the uniqueness of Ventura County, even unofficially, they should have tried a little harder.

When I saw the “news” in today’s paper, I started thinking about a way that I could use it in one of my articles.  This seemed like another example of how the Left has gone crazy calling pretty much everything racist and I thought that maybe taking it to the extreme might be a good way to make a point.

So, let’s do that.

If you doubt anything at all about the Left’s agenda, they immediately brand you a racist.  They’ll attack you for merely questioning whether systemic racism exists.

If you stop to think about any of the things they say, they call you a racist.  Wondering how they can claim that “Black Lives Matter” when it clearly doesn’t mean “All Black Lives Matter” can get you cancelled.

If you happen to be white, then merely existing is enough for you to be considered a racist.  In one breath, they claim that color isn’t supposed to matter.  In the very next breath, they’re condemning a great number of us for having “white privilege”.

The sad thing is that these examples are all true. We’re already at the point where doubting, thinking and being is all it takes to be considered a racist.

The philosopher René Descartes is famous for his statement, “Cogito, ergo sum”, which is usually translated into English as “I think, therefore I am.

Antoine Léonard Thomas expanded this slightly into, “dubito, ergo cogito, ergo sum”, or, in English: “I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am”.

As crazy as this may sound, we need to update this again, and expand it slightly more.  The old version doesn’t fully capture the ridiculous way the Left has of labeling virtually everything racist.

According to the Left, the new version should be: “Dubito, ergo cogito, ergo sum racist.”

Because, in the eyes of Liberals: I doubt, therefore I think, therefore I am…a racist.
