Yesterday, I described a commercial I had seen that featured a large black woman. More specifically, I described her as “a rather large black woman”.
I posted it on one of the Big Media platforms and someone commented saying, “Sounds like it was written by a racist. Why does it matter what color the person in the commercial is?”
You’d think by now I’d know better than to engage with the deranged, but I couldn’t help myself. I replied, “I don’t believe there is anything racist about stating the facts of a situation. Your assertion is ridiculous. If I witnessed a crime, would it be racist of me to use skin color to describe the person I saw committing the crime?”
To which he said, “Why is it important to mention the race of someone in a fucking commercial? I thought the goal was to “not see race”? I guess that’s only a smokescreen for the rabid right.”
I’m sure you can all see the problem. This guy is an idiot. He was a “woke” troll just looking for a fight. So, he called me a racist. Then, like a toddler with his building blocks, he used his impressive emoji skills to spell out “K-L-A-N”. I’ll bet his parents are proud.
Had he read what I had written, he would have seen that I specifically described her as black to make a point about using a black woman as a stereotypical prop to represent poor people looking for a handout. His misplaced anger should have been directed toward whoever made the commercial. Not at me.
But he didn’t read what I wrote and instead decided I was a racist based on what little he could see without going to the bother of actually clicking on a link and, heaven forbid, learning something.
Before I get to his next point, I’m going to make one of my own. It’s obvious from his use of the term “the rabid right” that he’s most likely not a Conservative. It’s no surprise then that his conduct was exactly how as I describe the behavior of Liberals in my article titled “Artificial Ignorance”. Rather than repeat it here, I’ll just recommend you read it. Probably won’t take you more than a minute or two and, if you’re a Conservative, I think it will amuse you.
My troll seems to believe that simply mentioning the color of someone’s skin is racist. If he thinks that saying “a rather large black woman” is racist then he’s lived a sheltered life. I grew up watching “All in the Family”, so you can trust me when I say I know all the racist terms and how to use them. If I wanted to sound racist, I have the skills to do so.
Warning: The following is for educational purposes only and may contain language some might find offensive. Reader discretion is advised.
For example, if I call someone “a rather large black woman”, that’s not racist. Because, I stated a fact that carried no derogatory connotation. But, if I had said, “fat-assed jungle-bunny bitch”? Well, that would have been racist, and probably more than a little sexist.
See the difference? I can. And I think most reasonable people can too.
<end of educational segment>
It’s not racist to notice that someone is black. But it is racist to treat someone differently simply because of the color of their skin. Likewise, it’s not racist to use physical features to describe someone, as long as the words used aren’t intended to inflict harm.
Finally, regardless of what that Liberal troll says, the goal has never been to “not see race”. Because that’s impossible. The goal is that, when we do see race, it doesn’t matter.
