I saw a video last week of Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) describing the meeting he had with Zelensky prior to Zelensky’s meeting with Trump and Vance.
He said that he told Zelensky that the American people stand behind Ukraine.
Really? That seemed a bit strange to me. I’m not a Constitutional scholar, so I could be wrong, but I’ve always thought that there was only one person authorized to speak for the American people. I’m pretty sure that’s not Mark Kelly.
Senator Kelly can clearly speak for the people of Arizona. But he can’t speak on behalf of all Americans. Unless, that is, if President Trump has authorized him to do so. Which he hasn’t.
Mark Kelly is clearly out of touch with most of the American people. He has to be. He’s a Democrat. The Democrats don’t represent most Americans. And they have continuously demonstrated they don’t even understand most Americans.
I’m actually more qualified to speak for most Americans than Mark Kelly is because at least, for now anyway, I’m part of the majority. So, I’m going to tell you what most Americans are thinking.
Not All, But Most
Notice I didn’t say “all Americans”. I said, “most Americans”. It’s possible that you’re part of a decreasing minority that still thinks Biden was a great president. If that’s true, well, then you’re probably not going to agree with me. Feel free to skip ahead.
The truth is, most Americans don’t give a shit about Ukraine. In fact, most Americans don’t even know for sure where it is. Speaking for myself, if I were given a globe without the country names, it would probably take me at least three tries to get it right.
It’s not that Americans are dumb or stupid. We just don’t care, nor do we have a real need to know where Ukraine is.
Most Americans want to know why they should care about Ukraine.
Sure, Ukraine has some nice farmland. But we have plenty of farmland. In fact, we have so much, the government pays farmers not to grow anything on it.
And Ukraine has some minerals we’d like to get our hands on. But most people don’t give a second thought, or even a first thought, to how their cell phones are made.
Most Americans don’t care about Ukraine simply because we don’t have to.
One Thing is Just Like Another
Sure, it’s terrible that people are getting killed. But it’s no more terrible than Israeli civilians being killed when Hamas invaded their country. And while the Russian treatment of Ukrainian POWs was atrocious, it’s clearly less atrocious than Hamas taking civilian hostages and then killing them before their release could be negotiated.
Most Americans want to understand why Democrats can’t see the similarities between Russia attacking Ukraine, and Hamas attacking Israel.
That’s not to say that most Americans don’t think about Ukraine. Most of us have been thinking about Ukraine for years. We started thinking about it when Biden bragged about using bribes to have a Ukrainian prosecutor removed from office.
Which is why most Americans want to know how Hunter Biden could land a cushy gig as a board member of Burisma when he had no experience whatsoever in the field of energy exploration and production. And we really want to know what was on Hunter’s laptop.
Thoughts and Prayers
Most Americans also want to know why we’re sending so much support to Ukraine. It makes no sense. We’ve got nothing on the line. And as Zelensky recently pointed out, we’re separated from the problem by an entire ocean. At most, we should be sending Ukraine our “thoughts and prayers”.
We don’t understand how Europe can be so supportive of Ukraine yet buy most of its energy from Russia. We do understand that the money Europeans are spending on oil and natural gas is being used to pay for the weapons and troops being deployed against Ukraine.
In fact, Europe typically spends more money buying energy from Russia than it does giving support to Ukraine. Tell me that’s not a conflict of interest.
Most Americans want to know how we can be sending so much money to Ukraine yet have no money available to help our own people affected by hurricanes, fires, and other natural disasters. We want to know why we should borrow money to give to a country we hardly ever think about.
Most Americans also want to know why we gave Ukraine hundreds of billions of dollars of support, instead of making it a loan where we’d eventually get our money back.
DOGE and DOJ Spells Accountability
And finally, most Americans want to know what happened to the money we already gave to Ukraine. Where did it go? How much was kicked back to Joe Biden via Hunter? Most Americans want DOGE and the Department of Justice to audit the money and supplies paid for by American taxpayers and sent to Ukraine.
Most Americans don’t think about Ukraine very often. But when we do, we want to know why we’re paying for their defense. And we want to know if our involvement in Ukraine’s war with Russia is the result of the actions of a corrupt President. If it turns out that we’ve spent hundreds of billions of dollars because of a corrupt administration, most Americans want to see someone held accountable.
